Choir Tour

It was so fun to go with Amberly on her Choir Tour last week. We left the high school at about 9:00pm and drove all night until we got to a Denny's for breakfast. We used the buses as changing rooms and cleaned up as best we could and then headed to Disneyland.
Looking fresh and cute at the start of the trip.

We stayed at Disney until about 4:30 and then headed to the hotel to check in. After a quick clean up we headed to a great place called Medival Times. The kids had a great time cheering for the Blue Knight as we ate on pewter plates with our fingers. It was a fun coincidence that we were given blue crowns to cheer for the Blue Knight and we're Viking Blue.
Thursday we headed back to Disneyland to perform at the Carnation Plaza next to the castle. The kids did a great job.
Saturday Night we stayed late for the fireworks and light show. It is an amazing production. Go Disney.
I had a great time reconnecting with my old friend Bonnie Peterson and making new friends: Marsha Johnson, Joanna Norton and Noreen Bean. These ladies made Disneyland fun in a whole new way.
After an amazing 5 days the bus ride home was a bit quieter than it had been most of the trip. These are amazingly talented, smart and beautiful teenagers that I really enjoyed getting to know. They were great representatives of Pleasant Grove and our whole community should be very proud of how they represented us. They received Superior ratings for all 3 performing groups and each of our groups took first in their competitions. We also won the overall trophy for the whole festival. Heather Reichert received a medal for the accompanists and Merry Carson received the medal for best solo. What a great trip. I'm glad I got to share it with Amberly before she leaves our family nest for collage.

Spring Break

Spring Break started for us Saturday morning April 3rd about 10:15 when we loaded in the Suburban and headed for St. George. We listened to General Conference as we traveled and were able to chase it through the dials as one station faded and another would pick it up. It was very uplifting. We stayed at a Comfort Inn in St. George. After hitting the Outlet Mall, Kevin and Jeffrey went to priesthood session with Daniel and Jake Clark and the girls and I hung out with Tina and her girls. I'm bummed I forgot the camara.
Sunday morning we were able to get about an hour and a half of conference. We lost it just before Las Vegas. We arrived at Auntie's house and were able to listen to the last 20 minutes. Then we layed down in our rooms upstairs for a few minutes until we felt an earthquake. Kevin said, "why are you shaking the bed?" and I said, "I thought you were. I think we're having an earthquake." Sure enough we felt the fringes of a 7.2 that happened in Mexicali, Mexico. That was our first ride of the trip.

The next morning we headed to the Desert Palms hotel where we were able to check in and park the car. Then we walked the 10 minutes to Disneyland.

Amberly found her letter in California.
Cammie found her letter in California.
Jeffrey found his middle initial in California.
Janna decided she liked the O.

It was raining Monday morning so we stopped at a drugstore and bought the kids an umbrella. It didn't rain for long, but it was cool and much less crowded Monday because of the weather.
Space Mountain was our first ride at Disneyland. It was a family favorite. Some of us ended up going on it 6 times.
Driving the cars.
Kevin always wanted to go on the submarine as a little boy and it was never open. His dream came true on this trip. How do they project underwater anyway?
Teacups are a must.

Other fun rides.

Small world.

I think these pictures were taken on the second day, but they represent how we felt by the end of the first day.
Tower of Terror.
I love California Screamin'. We went 5-6 times.

Janna and I did California Soaring twice. Everyone else just once. It's really cool.

Family togetherness.

Thursday morning we headed for St. George after taking Auntie and Uncle Lyle to IHOP. We had some fun hanging out with family in the beautiful sun.

Jeffrey stayed until Sunday, but the rest of us headed home Friday night and slept in our own beds. The sore throats and coughs are feeling better. All that's left are the wonderful memories.

Happy Spring Break!
